The UK government has launched a consultation on the introduction of green number plates for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The consultation aims to commend those who have chosen to drive a low or zero-emissions vehicle, making them more easily identifiable and helping those who wish to take advantage of local incentives such as free or discounted parking.
The consultation aims to identify which vehicles would be eligible for a green number plate, the design of the number plate as well as how the plates would be distributed to existing owners of cars with electric and hydrogen drive.
The consultation is part of the Government’s Road to Zero strategy which aims to bring the UK to net zero emissions by 2050.
