We are M Long Haulage and Daughters Limited, an aggregate haulier with our own dedicated recycling company Neptune Contract Services Limited which is located in Dagenham Essex, just a few miles from London. We supply virgin and recycled aggregates into London and the surrounding areas, we also are capable of accepting hazardous materials and refining them at our site.
I John Blasdale have been with the company for 6 months and have received training from Christopher Benn my operations manager about the importance of maintain a fleet of vehicles to the high industry standard set out by FORS, the company are currently looking at putting me through my FORS practitioner training.
Being with the company for only 6 months I have just started being involved in FORS and was lucky enough to have been part of the tail end of the bronze audit giving me the insight and thirst to be involved in the next audit.
M Long Haulage and Daughters Limited is a proud FORS gold members and have been since 2014. They were one of the first members of FORS with membership number 00152. FORS was brought in to assist maintaining the high standards to keep our status, but more importantly to keep our fleet maintained and running safely for our staff and everyone, 3rd parties and general public. We are proud to have a fleet of such a high standard and my role is to ensure that we keep that standard and push further forward.
The company through FORS has adopted the fleet management system which I use personally on a daily basis to manage vehicle maintenance, drivers performance, standards and training, this came from a recommendation from FORS and now assists us with our bronze audit.
- The results are very interesting it shows a big change in 2020 we believe this was due to the world wide pandemic Covid 19 with the road being clear due to lock down we found the MPG improve greatly as there was no queueing, roads flowed freely, and drivers were at easy as traffic problems normally arising were drastically reduced.
Driver health, safety and fitness is very important to us, all drivers must undertake a driver testimony as to fitness to drive before starting work with us, we then get the staff to fill out our drivers health declaration form annually, and we constantly review this to update any changes, where we are required to do so we contact the DVLA accordingly, all our drivers are assessed on their driving by our external advisor, Terry Jefferson.- We have a long – standing workforce, some of our employees have been with us in excess of 20 years, so recruiting is something that we do not have to do very often, however we work with the Havering College to provide support to encourage and develop local people into the industry.
- We commit to a strict noise restriction policy from start to finish time and a no idle policy, as well as planning our routes to prevent community disruption through noise pollution.
- We look forward to the development of suitable electronic vehicles for our industry and any innovation that can help us moving forward to be more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, we aim to try to reduce our fuel economy and carbon footprint.
- We actively promote FORS and it evident by stationary, website and we proudly have FORS stickers on our vehicles.
- It shows our commitment to a standard and that we are striving to be the best that we can be and upto an industry requirements.
