Weybridge Skip Hire Ltd is part of the Weybridge Group and is a family run company that has been operating for over 30 years throughout Surrey and Middlesex. The business continues to grow its waste and aggregates services for its private and commercial customers. The business was accredited Bronze in 2017 and moved rapidly to silver and then Gold in 2019.
Our Managing Director has set out the company’s strategic plan for 2020 to 2023 and FORS will continue to be part of our DNA. As a business we are extremely customer centric and wanted to demonstrate our focus and drive for continued improvement and best practices in the waste services industry. He feels that being part of FORS and as a Gold member demonstrates this to our customers and suppliers.
We came across FORS whilst working alongside large demolition companies in the Surrey area. We knew that going forward FORS was the perfect fit for our every growing operation.
We obtained FORS Bronze in 2017 which enabled us to start the process of continuous improvement and to continue to head in the right direction. As a company we have progressed alongside the FORS Standards along the years.
The next step for us as an ever-expanding company was the enhance our driver understanding and training. With the support and training guidance FORS provided we developed an induction process and carried out additional training with drivers through their induction period and further. Once our drivers had attended their initial online training, they were able to see the benefits themselves and this was fed back to us.
We were able to make full use of the FORS E Learning and external training (SUD and LoCity) which has upskilled our drivers and has enabled them to understand Road Safety and their roles and responsibilities in the environment.
A key benefit for the team has been standardisation throughout the operation with both processes and policies. This continually supports both safety and efficiency within the operations. Our drivers feel more valued and professional with the additional training.
Once we were accredited, we made the most of the benefits that FORS provides. For example, we were able to able to send our Transport Manager on workshops to become a FORS practitioner. With managers going through these courses, we are able to keep a close focus on the management of our fleet which includes improved efficiency, fuel consumption and driver development.
“Excellence simply delivered on time every time” – MD Kristian Ruse
” Over the last 2 years we have won numerous awards in the Transport, Construction and the Waste industry. This has been supported by our drive to be the best and FORS has underpinned this journey.” – Head of Transport- Lee Adam

Driver health, fitness and wellbeing is a key part in valuing our staff so we took the decision to reduce our review window from 12 month to every 6 months and the PDA system we use checks the driver fitness for work every day before any work can be uploaded. We have also seen a huge increase in the understanding of mental health awareness in society and we have opened a communications channel to support our staff in understanding the signs from both an employer and an employee’s point of view. One of our team has been trained as our mantel heath advocate. The wellbeing of our staff is key so we use a virtual cycle, motivated staff leads to good service that leads to loyal customers and gives us a profitable network.
Our retention of staff is 100% over the last 12 months and is partly due to the investment in our drivers. We do have a Warehouse to Wheels program, however at this stage we don’t have a suitable candidate so when we expand the operation, we will be looking at ex forces or drivers that already hold a current FORS training certificate.
All of our drivers understand how noise pollution can impact members of the public and the workforce. This has been achieved by updating our policies, procedures and conducting noise assessments and also adding noise suppression equipment to our vehicles and also the chains.
We have engaged our vehicle suppliers about alternative fuelled vehicles but at this stage there are no vehicles on the market that would suit our operations, however, we now manage 50% of our outbound waste inhouse and this is supported with the acquisition of a new 44 tonne walking floor and this has help us manage our carbon footprint. We have two addition 44 tonnes and two 18 tonne Skips vehicle. We are also working with our 3rd party’s logistics suppliers to co load and consolidate movements where possible. We also offer a free cycle to work scheme to all of our staff and we have reduced our staff car parking numbers to encourage staff to car share.
We are continuing to focus on offering a great service and expanding our business with both our current customer base and new customers. Due to the increase in active accounts and our commitment to running environmentally friendly vehicles, we have ordered two replacement Euro 6 vehicles for 2021 and we be looking to replace two more in 2022.
We have positively promoted FORS via National Safety Campaigns, including visiting local Schools and attending Resident Community meetings with local counsellors.
We annually send out letters to our customers promoting FORS and send out Flow Down Clauses to our current suppliers explaining the benefits that FORS can bring to an organisation.
Gaining FORS Gold accreditation shows our staff and our customers how committed we are in improving road safety for our drivers and also vulnerable road users, at the same time focusing on ensuring our processes and policies support our drive in reducing our carbon footprint by employing smart driving standards.
